At their Board meeting on
16th June 2015, Chair Mr Nick Watterson confirmed that work on the
replacement footbridge at Spaldrick was scheduled to begin on Monday 22nd
June.
Mr
Watterson announced, “The Board is delighted that work for the replacement
footbridge is going ahead. There have been a number of hurdles for the Board
and its officers to address over the past few years, but the Board is excited
to finally be able to re-join the Coastal Footpath at Spaldrick and, in doing
so, bring a fantastic amenity back into use. This section of the Raad ny
Foillan is enjoyed not only by Port Erin residents, but also many visitors.”
Mr
Watterson added, “The project itself should be completed within 4 weeks
dependent upon weather, so it is the intention to have the footpath open ahead
of the Summer Holiday season.”
The coastal footpath at
Spaldrick was closed in August 2005 following a landslip.
