Port Erin Commissioners has voted unanimously to adopt the
living wage as a minimum payment for all staff.
The resolution, effective from 12th December 2017, will ensure that all staff are paid at a rate at least equal to
the living wage.
Port Erin Commissioners’ Chairman Nick Watterson stated, “I’m pleased to confirm that Port Erin
Commissioners unanimously agreed to demonstrate its commitment as a responsible
employer and ensure that our staff are all paid at least
the Living Wage of £8.61 per hour. The Living Wage was
determined in a recent report by the Economic Affairs division of the Cabinet
Office along with input from other interested parties. It was considered by the
Board at its meeting on 12th December and aims to provide a level of
pay which allows people to have the opportunities and choices necessary to
participate in society as well as to meet basic needs. By adopting the Living Wage, we are in a better position to ensure our trained and committed
staff are paid a fair wage for the work they do for the benefit of the Port
Erin, and can assure ratepayers that the impact of the introduction of
the Living Wage will not significantly affect our budgeted costs."
