At the local authority
general election on Thursday 23rd April 2020, an election will take place for 7 Commissioners
in Port Erin.

The 2020 general local election process has commenced
with the Department of Infrastructure determining the date for the general
election, which has been set for Thursday 23rd April 2020. The newly elected
memberships will take up office from the 1st May 2020.
To stand as a local authority member you must
appear on a Register of Electors on the Island – you do not have to be
registered in the constituency for which you are standing. If you wish to
nominate or assent to a candidate, or vote at the elections you must be on the
Register of Electors for the specific constituency concerned.
If you are interested in standing, or merely want
to learn more about local authorities you can :-
• visit the IOM Government Website https://www.gov.im/categories/home-and-neighbourhood/elections-and-voting/local-authority-election/
• attend meetings of your local authority, these
are public and generally held once a month
• read agendas, reports and minutes which for Port
Erin are available on our website http://www.porterin.gov.im/s.nl/sc.13/category.6/.f
• attend a political surgery or meet and greet
session – Port Erin Commissioners will be hosting sessions in the coming months
• speak to an existing Commissioner
• follow your local authority on social media and
keep up-to-date by “liking” or “following” their page or profile
You can check whether you appear of the Register of
Electors at the local authority offices for your constituency, the Registers
for Electors for Port Erin is available to inspect at the Commissioners’ Office
during normal office hours.
