As you may have realised I have made the decision to not seek votes in this bye-election. There are several candidates who I think will make excellent Commissioners who are passionate about Port Erin who have no self interest and I am hopeful they will be elected.
When I made the decision to stand for Port Erin Commissioners I did so with the belief that issues close to my heart would remain unaddressed. However several fellow candidates share my views and I believe they will make excellent Commissioners – if they don’t May 2025 Local Elections are not so far away when there will be 7 seats available.
When nominations closed at 1pm on the 9th of November there was a 1 hour window to withdraw. At that time I only knew the names of fellow candidates and had no idea what would be in their manifestos or what their views were. It was not possible to withdraw from the Election after 2pm on the 9th of November. At that time I was looking forward to contesting the election and was ready and willing to fight for a position. However it soon became clear that the issues that were bothering me were troubling the other candidates as well so I made the decision to not campaign for votes – as withdrawing was not an option at this time.
Not being elected to Commissioner will also allow me to pursue other opportunities.
