Statement from Steve George (Vice Chairman) regarding Rowany Golf Club |

Port
Erin Commissioners would like to express their sadness at the news from Rowany
Golf Club over the weekend regarding its impending closure.
After
being approached by Rowany Golf Club last year, Port Erin Commissioners has
worked very closely with their Committee to address potential issues over the
long term prospects of the Club with the next renewal of the lease due in April
2016.
During
this period, a number of plans and incentives have been discussed and offered
to Rowany Golf Club. Unfortunately, following a meeting of the Rowany Golf Club
Committee last Thursday, the Committee has informed their
staff and Members that the decision has been taken to cease trading and wind up
business operations.
An
open dialogue is still ongoing between Port Erin Commissioners and Rowany Golf
Club and it’s Members. Once formal notification is received from Rowany Golf
Club, Port Erin Commissioners will make a further statement which, if needed, will also include
details of the formal process of requesting expressions of interest in the
amenity. Port Erin Commissioners remain committed to retain a Golf Course
within Port Erin and will provide every assistance to any organisation who
wishes to do so.

Steve George
