At its meeting on 8 December 2020 a notice of motion was
brought forward to progress with the demolition of the Cosy Nook Café.
This notice of motion referred to a resolution by the Board
from 11 September 2019 in which “it was resolved to demolish the existing Cosy Nook due to the site
constraints and the lack of access to the land behind the existing property,
design limitations to improve the property to meet current and future
accessibility requirements, practicality of operating former cottages as a café
due to the limited internal public space and the flooding issues which the
seaward side of the building already experiences and will continue to do so in
the future.”
The Board
has been clear in its intentions with the proposals released in March of this
year and subsequently with more detail within its formal planning application
for the redevelopment of the site to replace the existing structure.
Any
decisions made by the Board relating to the Cosy Nook Café have certainly not
been taken lightly and the Board is acutely aware, even from within its nine
elected representatives, that any changes to the site polarises opinion. Added 11 Dec 2020
